Women In Art—Hannah Höch: Inspiration to Recharge Your Intuition

The first session in this series featured Georgia O’Keeffe, and now we move on to Hannah Höch—with many more inspiring women artists to come.
Women In Art is a monthly creative series designed to help women experience creativity in a genuine, playful, and meaningful way. I created this series because creativity heals, and learning from women artists reminds us that everyone is creative in some way or another. These sessions offer joyful art time, fresh inspiration, and a supportive community—no art experience needed. It’s just paper and paint. I will have suggested supplies but please know that you can use anything you have on hand.

In our next session, we’ll explore the work of Hannah Höch, a groundbreaking German artist known for her inventive photomontage and collage work. She was one of the few women associated with the Berlin Dada movement and used art to challenge ideas about society, identity, and the roles of women. Her playful, layered style makes her a wonderful source of inspiration for creating boldly and intuitively.

Women In Art and How Can We Be Inspired By Them

One beautiful way to nurture your own creativity is by looking to women artists for inspiration without copying their artwork. We can notice their use of color, the feelings their art brings up, the materials they choose, the themes they return to, or the courage they show in expressing themselves. Maybe one artist inspires you to try bolder shapes, another invites you to slow down and observe nature, and another reminds you that imperfection has charm. The idea is not to recreate their work line for line, but to let their spirit spark something personal in you. Creativity heals, and sometimes a little inspiration from another woman’s artistic journey helps us trust our own artist soul.
