Have you ever heard a voice in your head that wouldn't go away? It's kind of like when you hear a song, and then you keep singing it, or humming it - it just won't go away.
It's really not a bad thing and for me I knew in my heart and soul that I must do this thing. My plan has been percolating for some time and I think I have been scared to put it out there. Afraid you would judge me, afraid no one would see the value of this thing, and afraid I would fail. It is time I step forward and put my idea out into the world and whatever happens, happens. I do know this is important and meaningful and did I say, "fun"!
If you are a guy reading this, keep reading because you may know a woman in your life that would be curious about the program I am going to describe.
I believe there is a need for women in recovery to come together to share, create, laugh, cry, and everything else in between. I think the first thing we thing of when we hear recovery, is that it must be in recovery from some substance. And that would be quite accurate; however there are also other types of recovery. Recovery from emotional, mental or physical abuse, recovery from a loss-grieve, recovery from a physical ailment, and those are just a few. If you have been consistently working on yourself, and haven't we all - well I hope, then this community is for you.
I have 7 years of sobriety and I have continually searched for something more or different from the traditional recovery programs. I became sober through a very well-known program, and I am grateful for all I have learned and gained in that environment, and I am still active in that program.
I am a woman that has and continues to do the work to strengthen my recovery and my life. I am looking for other women who want to do the work together to enhance our life's.
As my search continued, I realized that there wasn't much out there that would bring women together in a supportive community. And then I felt this strong gut feeling, call it intuition, that I could create this community and that is what I have done.
I would like you to think this over and if you are woman that could benefit, or if you know a woman that you can share this with-please share this blog post with them.
One last thing, whether it's you or a woman you know, I invite you and/or them to a discovery get together. It is a "Taste of Tangled Emotions".
